I believe that a woman’s birth experience is one of the most memorable events of her life.

I believe that the outcome can and should be a positive one, even when medical intervention is required.

I trust that natural childbirth is attainable for most women, most of the time. I also understand that curve balls sometimes occur. I believe that my clients have the right to remain informed and to be a part of the decision-making process when medical intervention is necessary.

I know that the care you receive during your labour and birth experience should never be unpredictable. The journey that you are on during childbirth is unpredictable enough.

I promote informed decision making. A woman must have all the necessary information needed with regard to the benefits and risks of medication in childbirth and be comfortable with her decision about whether or not to accept medication. This will enable her to make an informed decision and she will feel empowered and determined.

I will make sure that my clients are informed ahead of time if their labour is on a path toward intervention. This can make the difference between a positive birth experience and an unexpected negative one.

I know that birth is unpredictable. My goal is to make the birth experience a positive and memorable one. Every woman has a different definition of a positive birth experience. Some women trust the hard work and pain of child birth. They accept the pain. Others need to have the option of pain relief though want to try without it. And still others believe that pain should be managed. I strive to help each individual woman achieve what she wants her positive birth experience to be.
